RIMALDAS VIKSRAITIS/ GRIMACES OF THE WEARY VILLAGE

Rimaldas Viksraitis (born 1954) cycles around the desolate farms of his native Lithuania with a camera tied to his bike. The resulti ng photographs expose the post-Soviet disintegration of village life, against a funny-sad backdrop of perennial drunkenness and buff oonery. The book's images were selected by famed photographer Martin Parr, who describes Viksraitis' works as slightly insane and wo nderfully surreal.
